A Better Way to Practice Exists. Read More…
The quest for truth is a fundamental pursuit of humanity, transcending time and culture. The Buddha once stated, "Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth." This insight reminds us that truth, once revealed, has the power to transform us at our very core, altering our perceptions, beliefs, and ultimately, our reality. The truth resonates with us differently, and once revealed to us cannot be unknown. Just being exposed to the truth, just hearing it changes us.
Similarly, Dr. David Hawkins' Map of Consciousness provides a framework that illuminates the levels of consciousness and their corresponding emotional states. Once one becomes aware of this map and understands its implications, a profound shift occurs in their perception of themselves and the world around them. It serves as a guiding light, a North Star, offering clarity and direction in navigating life.
In the realm of dentistry, the teachings of Dr. Michael Schuster, Dr. Michael Edwards and the curriculum of The Center, inspired by the research of Abraham Maslow, offer a transformative approach to practice management. By adopting this model, dentists and their teams are guided towards a path of sustainable success, industry setting profitability, freedom and fulfillment. In short, implementing The Model gives you the potential to live to your full potential as well as finding and developing your life purpose.
The Schuster Center for Professional Development stands in stark contrast to the many voices in dental magazines, the consultants, and the insurance companies that perpetuate a production model, one size fits all style of dentistry. This narrow focus on volume overlooks the critical factor of profitability, quality of the patient experience, organizational and personal development, and fails to address the holistic needs of both practitioners and patients.
The Center's emphasis on Profitability Management© and The Growth Matrix© offers an alternative to this flawed paradigm. By prioritizing net profit and implementing strategies that align with basic human needs, dentists can achieve not only financial success but also personal fulfillment and professional satisfaction.
This comprehensive approach acknowledges the interconnectedness of the driving forces of practice management and empowers practitioners to create a thriving and harmonious practice environment.
The Center’s Model is, and is based on the truth, and is the path to a better way of practice and a better life.

Like this doctor from New Hampshire:
“I went through The Center in the late 80’s. I still do the new patient experience like I was taught! Our overhead is between 47-50%, and still track everything like we did when in our Management Program. We have not taken assignment of benefits for over 35 years, have a staff of 1 ½ hygienists, two assistants and 1/1/2 business staff. We participate in no insurance or PPO’s
I get calls from the “corporates” all the time. Friends of mine that have done the deals have bad tastes in their mouths. Most likely I will try for a more traditional transition. The corporate thing would be a dream if it was Schuster Center based! But in its current form it repulses me.
Your latest writing that I am responding to really catalyzed this note…I do sense things are going the wrong way, but who knows REALLY what will happen. The financial pressure the kids feel, the lack of desire to own a business and to remain employed is probably the right thing for a lot of people. I cannot help but think, though, that the opportunity for those willing to practice in the manner the Center preaches is huge. I wonder how these folks will be found?
After all these years, looking back as well as to today and the future, I am thankful I chose to “swim upstream”…keep up the good work and if you know of anyone that understands the philosophy that wants to live here (great place to raise kids!) let me know.
